12/9 Punta Perula to Barra de Navidad - 85km

We tried a 7AM start for 85km from Punta Perula to Barra de Navidad for two nights (rest day). Hilly and hot.  Two stops, one at a mom & pop restaurant in San Mateo, one at the beach town called Plata Pariaso before an  8km climb.  The downhill that followed was great.  In Barra de Navidad we are staying Hotel Posada Pacifico, 180p per night, best price yet. A couple blocks from the beach. Dropped off laundry, went to ATM, grabbed a quick snack of beef tacos. Tonight we are going to happy hour rooftop bar to watch sunset and then to dinner.  Tomorrow is a rest day, I plan to swim & snorkel.  Rooftop bar was great, a nice view and most drinks were $2, cervesa $1.  Off to local restaurant where I tried huaraches...not the sandals but the food...mmm.

From Wikipedia: Huarache is a popular Mexican dish consisting of an oblong, fried masa base, with a variety of toppings. The name "Huarache" is derived from the shape of the masa, similar to the popular sandals of the same name

Later we found the waiters from a restaurant trying to get customers inside but also playing chess to pass the time.  Amit played a couple games with them.  Sharyn was interested but does not play after even one drink.  They were good chess players.
