Fri. 12/11 Barra de Navidad to Manzanillo - 64km

Another 7AM start, warm and getting hot. Beautiful countryside with banana, coconut, papaya and mango farms. Rolling hills then flat into Manzanillo, a major port town, lots of container ships. We stopped at an Oceanside restaurant, hung out, ate, swam, warm and clear water, but no fish. We are staying at Hotel Colonial which is near the harbor and very colonial. Cost is 340p ($28) and the first hotel (I think only) that takes credit cards. Wandered about after showering and washing clothes in the shower, which are hung to dry on the rooftop clotheslines. Going to the local market for dinner early, 5PM.  Looks like a weekend of Virgin of Guadalupe celebrations are setting up, leading up to Dec.13.  My guess is Christmas activities will become more visible immediately following.  Sharyn was ill today, Steve is still not completely well, Amit will be leaving the ride after a week for his temporary home in Mexico City tomorrow.  This was his original plan.  And then there be 9 riders.  Extensive Virgin of Guadalupe music happening and parade with alot of costumes and alot of kids.

From Wikipedia:
Our Lady of Guadalupe, also called the Virgin of Guadalupe is a 16th century Roman Catholic symbol of the Virgin Mary. It is Mexico's most popular religious and cultural symbol.
