Sat. 12/12 Manzanillo to Tecoman 62km

The now usual 7AM start to beat the heat.  Two stops, one at the Salt Museum in Ciuatlan where Basil translated the info, salt was first 'mined' here as were coconuts first cutivatedin the Americas here brought from the Philipines along with slaves. The second stop was at a beach restaurant in El Pariaso. Surfers were out which means the surf was above average.  Ron went for a swim way out into the ocean, the local kids said 'your amigo is very macho'.  I swam until a big wave knocked me down. Of the 62km, we did 20 fast km on the auto-pista (toll road, bikes are free) very hot by the end of the ride.

Into the Gina Motel, 250p ($20)...double that price for AC & TV, very nice in any case. Hot water, open Internet access and nice computers in the lobby, a pool, a rooftop clothesline and best of all...quiet.  Ron, ever in search of a hamburger in Mexico, found a good one here.  A bit of a walk to the city center, encountered a large Virgin of Guadalupe parade along the way, since this is the actual feast day.  We had a nice dinner, investigated the new church with open sides, I guess the weather is never cold here, don't think I have a picture of it.  The old church was destroyed by an earthquake.  Visited the market then walking home after dark was a bit of a challenge since several turns were required.
