Sat. 12/5 in PV & Sun. 12/6 Cycling from PV to El Tuito

Sat. 12/5 in PV
Sunny and warm.  Met more riders in the morning in the lobby after breakfast, including Sharyn from WI., Kathleen from KS. and Amit temporarily from Mexico City.  Turns out I told Sharyn about BikeMexico at the week long GRABAAWR ride in WI. in June and she decided to do it.  I wandered around old town PV with Sharyn, since it was her first time here and she didn't want to get lost.  We stopped at a restaurant in the market and observed a large iguana in the trees.  In the afternoon we met to take our bike boxes to be shipped to Zihuantenejo, about $20.  Ron's bike showed up at the last minute, delivered to Hotel Azteca by a taxi from the airlines.  Later we all met for the pre-ride briefing and get acquainted dinner, including Panko from Vancouver who I met two years ago on the Gabriola PV ride.  After dinner we shopped for breakfast food and road snacks, tomorrow we ride.

The riders:
Panko from Vancouver, retired
Sharon from southern WI, retired

Sun. 12/6 Cycling from PV to El Tuito - 45km
Raining!  Very unusual since the dry season started a month ago.  Even clouds are rare.  We wait an hour to see if it stops, but then we are off in the warm rain.  Along the coast for awhile then up, up, up towards El Tuito.  Brunch overlooking river where we are the first customers of the day, then on to El Tuito.  Still raining a bit, hotel has few customers other than us which is typical when not a holiday.  Pool, wi-fi, no air, hot water after it is turned on and warms up, also turned off at night, also typical.  Found a very good restaurant near the town square, which was torn up for rebuilding.  Darn, usually on Sun. nite Mexicans come to the square dressed up and chat, walk, dance, eat ice cream, etc.
